Modelling Resources

The resource ontology provides a vocabulary for describing resources and their properties. This includes file format, language, web location, and rights. Human readable names and descriptions are provided by the label and comment properties in the RDFS ontology.

The majority of properties in this ontology are influenced by their equivalents in the Dublin Core Metadata Element Set.

The ontology makes a distinction between digital and physical resources via the DigitalResource and PhysicalResource classes. Although the ontology provides three subclasses of DigitalResource dealing with audio, documents, and images, it is primarily designed for extension.

Properties from the Provenance ontology can be used to link resources to their creators and modifiers.
