This ontology has been inspired by FOAF, W3C PIM, and vCARD, with component name construction adapted from the suggestions in http://wiki.foaf-project.org/NamesInFoaf. Several relationships have also been adopted from http://vocab.org/relationship/ and from XFN. Address properties have been adopted from http://schemas.talis.com/2005/address/schema, however we recognise that this is insufficient for a universal address representation. For example: "Santiago 1400" mother tongue The primary language of the person. Should be represented using the language codes from the IANA language subtag registry (e.g., 'fr', 'en-GB-oed'). A URL indentifying a person's personal homepage homepage A URL indentifying a person's personal webpage at their place of work (this should not be confused with the homepage of their place of work). workpage postal code The postcode or zipcode of the address. For example: "NN14 7DS" region name The name of the region within the country, principality or national entity. For example: "Alabama" Street Address The building name and number and street name. For example: "13 Queen Street" telephone A telephone number which can be used to contact a person at the address. The number should use the tel: schema A URL of a webpage about or by a person. This property should be extended to identify the type of webpage referenced (e.g., LinkedIn, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook), rather than by using this property directly. webpage articular name A name component used to join other components (e.g., de, von, of). composite name A composite name for a person, comprised of a sequence of individual name and title components. dynastic name A name associated with a dynasty (e.g., House of Windsor). family name A name component derived from the person's family (e.g., Stevenson, Knox). gender An individual's self-conception of their gender, as distinguished from their biological sex. gender name A name component based on the person's gender (Bin, Kaur, Thi). given name A given name is a name given to a person, as opposed to an inherited one such as a family name (e.g., Graeme, Stephen). home contact profile A home profile should contain contact information for a person's place of residence. A person may have more than one home profile. honorific title A title component most often used as a prefix or suffix ("Mr", "Jr", "Frau" etc.). locality name A name component based (in part) on geography (e.g., Wales, Edinburgh). matronymic name A name component derived from the person's mother's (or grandmother's etc.) name. name component A name component represents a single part of a person's name, classified by its origin. online profile The online profile for a person should contain information about their online presence, and online contact details. patronymic name A name component derived from the person's father's (or grandfather's etc.) name. person A representation of a person. contact profile A physical or virtual context (e.g., workplace, home, or "online") associated with a person that contains information and contact details particular to that context. Note that one person's workplace may be another person's home. A person may have more than one home and more than one workplace. professional title A title component indicating professional/academic status ("M.D.", "PhD", "CEO" etc.). Some titles may take the form of either a prefix or suffix (e.g., "Dr", "PhD") religious name A name component based in religion or religious-based tradition (e.g., Benedict). nickname A nickname or sobriquet that is familiar enough such that it can be used in place of a real name without the need of explanation (e.g., Bonnie Prince Charlie, Pelé) teknonymic name A name component derived from (one of) the person's children's name(s). title componenet An individual title component of the name for a person. work contact profile A work profile should contain contact information for a person's place of work. A person may have more than one work profile. female The female gender. male The male gender. transgender Neither male nor female gender.
